Instructors needed for two sections of Introduction to American Studies and one section of Introduction to Critical Race & Ethnicity Studies at Pace University (downtown campus) in Fall ’17.

Introduction to American Studies

A team-taught course (happy to consider teams applying together!) capped at 25 that comes with a $1000 budget (to bring students to museums, events, invite outside speakers, etc). At Pace American Studies we often aim to emphasize: U.S. vernacular cultures, the study of race/ethnicity, & New York City studies. You can design your own syllabus; we can also help by giving examples of previous syllabi that have worked well in the classroom. This course is compensated at 3-credits per instructor. The sections meet T/Th 10:05-12:05 and MW 3:30-5:30.

Introduction to Critical Race & Ethnicity Studies

A course in its second year at Pace, developed as the anchor of our new minor in Critical Race & Ethnicity Studies. This course introduces students to critical race theory, and the study of race in comparative contexts. It’s 3 credits and meets MW 1:20-2:45. Class is also capped at 25. We would prefer for the fall rotation of this course to have a slightly more humanities bent; the spring section is taught by a social scientist.
