As part of the tenth-year anniversary of the Futures Initiative, this panel celebrates two exciting new publications and the brilliant scholars who produced this scholarship:
FI Faculty Fellow Professor Amber Musser, whose book Between Shadow and Noise, Omise’eke Natasha Tinsley praises as work that “will reshape current conversations in Black studies, feminist studies, art criticism, performance studies, film studies and beyond;”
Assistant Professor (and the first ever Graduate FI fellow) Danica Savonick, whose book Open Admissions Alexis Pauline Gumbs calls a model to “reactivate Toni Cade Bambara, June Jordan, Audre Lorde, and Adrienne Rich.”
Together, they will discuss the work that went into producing and publishing their new books, how they choose what their research is or will be, and what they imagine humanities-based research could become in the future. In addition, the research done by FI fellows over the past decade will be celebrated in an informal collection that will be on display throughout the event.
