The CUNY Humanities Alliance seeks applications from Graduate Center students in any field for a Spring 2023 fellowship.

About the Humanities Alliance

The CUNY Humanities Alliance, generously supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, exposes graduate students to the best ways to support humanities education in the community college context, while simultaneously expanding access to the humanities for undergraduates from the BIPOC and immigration communities served by the City University of New York. The HA places graduate students in educational support roles at one of four CUNY community colleges, and also brings them together in a cohort at the Graduate Center for reflection, community, and professional development. HA Documentation Fellow

The Humanities Alliance is looking for a Documentation Fellow with experience and interest in creating a record of the many activities and take-aways of the program, and to help communicate those with a broader audience. We invite students with a background or interest in journalism, ethnography, record-keeping, audio or video production; although we are open to more approaches and skills.

The fellow will be expected:

  • To document the Humanities Alliance experience for involved fellows, faculty and staff in Phase II.
  • To support current fellows in the creation of fellows’ portfolios that give account of their participation in campus projects and any other events. This could include collecting agendas, flyers, and other media. These portfolios should give an archival and narrative testimony of fellows’ work.
  • To work with faculty and staff at the Humanities Alliance and campus partners collecting and organizing artifacts related to the program.
  • To work with the Humanities Alliance leadership and the Communication Fellow to develop ways to tell the stories and lessons of the program to a broader audience. This could be done through written profiles, short videos, and any other media.

Fellowship Structure and Compensation

This fellowship is for the Spring 2023 semester only. The specific terms and compensation structure will be determined based on the candidate’s eligibility. The amount of compensation will be roughly comparable to typical Graduate Center fellowships, in the range of $13,000 to $15,000. For more information, please contact lhenaouribe@gc.cuny.edu.

Fellowship Eligibility

All applicants must be a full time Graduate Center student, in good academic standing.

To apply, please submit: your CV, contact information for three references, and a short statement (300 to 500 words) describing how your experience and interests fit with the Humanities Alliance’s goals and the expectations of this position.
