Established in 2013, the Advanced Research Collaborative (ARC) extends the CUNY Graduate Center’s global reach and prominence as an international hub of advanced study. Through its Distinguished CUNY and Visiting Scholar positions, ARC embraces the vital work of eminent scholars both within and outside of CUNY. These scholars enter a stimulating interdisciplinary environment in which they conduct their own research, access the GC’s research centers and institutes, and collaborate with leading scholars. As an interdisciplinary space for collaboration, ARC currently focuses on the following four key areas of intellectual concerns: Inequality, Collective Memory, Race, Migration & Diversity, and Global Urbanism. In addition, ARC partners with the Graduate Center’s forty research centers, institutes, interdisciplinary committees, and other academic initiatives to promote interdisciplinary research.

As you probably know, scholars who are selected spend time in residence at ARC working on their own research and drawing on the resources of the CUNY Graduate Center. They also participate in the weekly ARC seminar series.  Attached is a copy of this fall’s seminar schedule to give you some idea of the sort of things our current scholars are working on. All CUNY full-time faculty are welcome to apply (except for central line appointments at the Graduate Center) as well as scholars outside of the CUNY system.
