The 44th Susman Committee at the Department of History at Rutgers University-New Brunswick are so excited to circulate the program for the 44th Annual Warren Susman Graduate Conference, “Crossing Boundaries: Disruption, Disturbance, and Defiance.” The conference will take place via Zoom on April 1.  For more details, please see our event webpage.

Dr. Jen Manion (PhD’08 Rutgers), Professor of History and Sexuality, Women’s and Gender Studies at Amherst College, will give the keynote address, “Female Husbands and the Future of (Trans)gender History.” She is a social and cultural historian whose work examines the role of gender and sexuality in American life. Their most recent book, Female Husbands: A Trans History (Cambridge, 2020) was a finalist for the OAH Lawrence Levine Award for the best book in U.S. cultural history and recipient of the best book prize by the British Association of Victorian Studies.
