Visiting his former home in New York from his present home in Morocco, acclaimed poet Victor Hernández Cruz will take us on his unique poet’s journey with readings from his new book Beneath the Spanish, called by Allison Adelle Hedge Coke “a virtual encyclopedia of poetics histories in colonial resistances.” After his reading, Cruz will be joined by Visiting Scholar Professor Dorothy Wang and Graduate Center, CUNY and Queens College Professor Ammiel Alcalay, recent recipient of a Before Columbus Foundation American Book Award for Lost & Found.

Co-sponsored by The Institute for Research on the African Diaspora in the Americas and the Caribbean (IRADAC) and Lost & Found: The CUNY Poetics Document Initiative.
