The Graduate Center, CUNY has collaborated with New York Public Library and Bard High School/Early College to create a course about the history of the Lower East Side. Students were taught the latest in digital research techniques and were given access to NYPL’s large selection of archival holdings in order to learn the rich history of the LES through primary sources. As part of this course, Bard students worked with two PhD fellows from the Graduate Center as well as several NYPL personnel.

We would like to invite you to the course’s end of year colloquium taking place on Wednesday, June 7th at 1:00. The students from this semester’s course will be presenting their final projects on the history and culture of the Lower East Side. The event will take place at the NYPL Stephen A. Schwarzman Building (476 Fifth Avenue). Please register for this event at http://on.nypl.org/mappingtime[on.nypl.org].
