November 11, 2025 | Rukshana Jalil The Center for the Study of Women and Society is now accepting submissions for the 2025-2026 Koonja Mitchell Memorial Prize ($2000) and the Sue Rosenberg Zalk Endowed Fund Award ($4000). Please consider applying. The Koonja Mitchell Memorial Prize – The prize of $2000.00 will be awarded to a student working on a dissertation concerned with issues of gender and social justice. Special consideration will be given to work on militarism and trauma. To be considered for the prize, candidates must submit a 10-page dissertation prospectus, a letter of recommendation from their dissertation advisor, and a CV. All materials should be submitted as a single PDF to: [email protected]. Any PhD student enrolled at the Graduate Center is eligible. The Sue Rosenberg Zalk Award – This award of $4000.00 will be given to assist the scholarly research of a PhD student enrolled in the Women’s Studies Certificate Program. While special consideration will be given to proposed research projects related to globalism and transnationalism, all proposals will be eligible. Awards will be granted on the basis of financial need and academic excellence. Preference will be given to students at the dissertation stage. To be considered for the award, candidates should submit a copy of their CV, an unofficial transcript, a description of their project, and a letter of recommendation from their advisor.
