February 5, 2020 | Radhika Kashyap For the second year in a row, the PublicsLab will sponsor a Graduate Center student to attend the LA Review of Books / USC summer publishing workshop in California. The application deadline is 16 March 2020. The LARB/USC Publishing Workshop is an intensive, three-week summer course on book, magazine, and online publishing held on the University of Southern California campus, 5–24 July 2020. Through lectures, seminars, and practical instruction, participants learn the foundations of print and online editing and production; gain insight into the financial and business side of publishing; and connect with over 60 industry leaders from across the country working in all areas of traditional and new media publishing. All Graduate Center PhD students in the humanities or humanistic social sciences are invited to apply. The selected Graduate Center fellow will receive full tuition, plus a $1,500 housing and travel stipend. For the full call, students should see the PublicsLab website. LARB and the PublicsLab will hold an info session via Zoom for prospective applicants on 19 February from 3:00-4:00pm. Students should contact me directly at shartman2@gc.cuny.edu with questions and to access the info session. I also recommend checking out the blog post that last year’s fellowship recipient wrote about her experience.
